I am an Soviet and Russian camera collector residing in State of Illinois, USA. I have only somewhat recently started collecting (since May 2007) these fine examples of Soviet and Russian mechanical engineering and design that until late 80s have been closed off to the rest of the world. Now that these cameras have come to light, I want to share them with all of you. Recently I have decided to start cataloging Soviet and Russian cameras online, thus the USSRPhoto.com project was born, which is a Wiki catalog of Russian and Soviet cameras. New plastic body taking only the new Agfa Rapid or Orwo SL film cartridges, giving 12 views. Setting by symbols – clouds to sunshine - visible on the top plate. New oversized advance lever on front of the camera. Very few made, because there was no Soviet film available on the market except Orwo SL [3].

While many collectors are not resolved to collect Smena cameras, I aquired my Rapid #000693 in Kaunas flea market for only €1,5. My another Rapid #7134540 has soviet best quality mark on the camera top.
