To shoot with a Smena you have your right hand close to the lens, because the shutter-button is there. All I'm saying is, you always hold a camera like you are used to it after hours of practise. It just seems to me, Yury wasn't used to shoot with that camera on the picture, because you always keep a finger ready to shoot.
But besides that, I don't know where the shutter button is on an Exa.

To shoot pictures with Smena with the left hand on the shutter-button?! It seems to be something new for Smenas.
Newertheless he helds the Exa in his hands, and Exa has the shutter-button on the left side, so you have to shoot with the left hand.

P.S. In case of photo cameras I believe only documents. The rest is a product of our fantasy. We can discuss it with each other, but we cannot proove our theories. Only historical documents can help us to find the truth.

Alexander, look at the picture. If Yury would have a Zorki in his hands, he would have his right hand on the shutter-button, always ready to shoot, and his left hand to focus. But here it's opposite. Yury has his right hand on the lens. Seems he was used to do that from shooting with his Smena.

Lenny,

Smena was not the only camera to start.

Bakelite cameras are more difficult to engrave

Hi Alexander,
I'm sure Yury started with a Smena. Why is there no Smena-Yura?

Lenny,
Zorki-3 has nothing to do with the first space flight. It was simply Gagarin's first camera
