Hi guys,

recently a nice looking FED S arrived here. The odd thing is that it does not have the 2,0/50 lens but a normal FED 3,5/50 lens. The camera number starts is 142xxx, lens number 140xxx. Both camera and lens look as if they were together the whole time over (both look like new).
Is there anything known that the FED S with speed 1/1000 was delivered with the normal 3,5/50 lens?

Ulrich

I have three NKVD S without the 2/50mm lens. I put on them a 4,5/28mm and a 6,3/100mm which are correct, as made to complete the "S" line in 1938. And the third one is a late type d, with a wartime 2/5cm Sonnar: correct too. You have the choice!

Jacques.

Yes, FED NKVD is always a nice camera.

Thanks for your opinions. So it seems that somebody changed the lens. But nevertheless it's a really nice camera :-)

As Jacques mentioned it is hard to judge but
I would rather say the camera left factory with other lens. The lens number is less than the camera number. Even if it had been special order all lenses with less numbers (than camera number) should have been used for cameras produced in the past.

Hi Ulrich,

The passports we know show all S bodies with the 2/50mm. So very probably the S was delivered only with that lens, except special order. For the rest, we don't even know how the S-s were numbered, nor how many exactly were made...

Amitiés. Jacques.
