Hi all,

It's my understanding that early FEDs have non-standard thread pitch, and that lenses were matched to the camera.

Do people think that this is the case for the camera below? I'm thinking of buying it and would like to use my Jupiter 12 on it.

Cheers,

Laurence.

Certainly you are right, Alfa. Laurence should use a Jup 12 without difficulty on his early Fed 1f.

I just add that there are three different problems to take into consideration:
- the pitch: 0,977mm/turn on Leicas, 1 mm/turn on Fed and Zorkis. But I very rarely had problems to mount Leica lenses on my Feds (and vice-versa);
- the start of the pitch and the final position of the infinity button: the mess on very early Feds! But shooting is always possible.
- the register which should always be 28,8mm on Leica type cameras. It's far from being always the case on Feds. Bodies/lenses were appaired one by one at the factory and nowadays, it can be difficult to find the good original couples...

Amitiés. Jacques.

As of my knowledge:
Yes, early FEDs have non-standard thread mount. But it refers to FEDs NKVD. In the link above we can see not so early FED with standard lens mount. You can use Jupiter 12 dedicated to Zorki camera.
Pls correct me if I'm wrong.
