I just bought and tested a Kiev 30. I bought it via Ebay from Ukraine. It was NOS (new old stock).

The internet sources say that the Kiev 30 was built between 1974 and 1983 by the Asenal factory. Its sucessor, the Kiev 30M, built until the end of the 80s, was a slightly simplified version. The 30M was succeeded by the 303, which is mainly the same camera with more plastic, built throughout the 90s. Looking at the camera bought, I'm not sure about the dates. My Kiev 30 suggests a 1990 production date.

the production number is 9005231.

Any ideas? If you want to read more about my camera, it's here http://www.135compact.com/16mm_kiev_30.htm.

thank you, vlad, for the informations. it's a nice camera indeed. it has the best features for creative photography, several speeds and apertures + real focussing + the biggest format on 16mm film.

so it's a 30M in a 30 housing. it's the 30 which has the flash contact, the 30M has none. so we know that in 1990 the kiev 30M was still made and that they still had some kiev 30 housings, as the seller had several of these.

this is quite interesting, it is indeed a 1990 Kiev-30 since it has no synchro-contact, I've never seen one this late, BUT it has the black film plane mark just like 30M, so it looks like almost a transitional model between the two. Must be from a very last batch, congratulations, nice camera!

Best regards,
Vlad

please have a look at my page, there are photos from all sides http://www.135compact.com/16mm_kiev_30.htm as I said, it was new old stock, never used and came with all accessotries and its original box, all unused as well. the seller had quite a number of these...

Hi Xya, can you flip it over please and show me the other side with it slid out.. I have a feeling you got a 30M inside a 30 shell..

Thanks,
Vlad

I would have said 1990 too, by the serial number...
Unless it does not follow the traditional numbering?

Jacques.
