Hi all,

I just received this camera, and it came with uncorrect lens (Industar 22)
The camera is in good shape, shutter and rangefinder working fine

Please, who could help me and tell me what could be the correct lens for this body? I have several lenses that could fit but I don't know how to recognize what type of serial number and what range of serial number produced at same date?

Thank you for your help!!

Fred

Fred, a nice FED you have found, congralutaions. A fitting lens will be one with full turn lens. But they are hard to find.

Difficult to say exactly.
It's not impossible that the very last Fed 1a had a half turn lens (especially the chromed ones). But if we have a look at the wiki, here:

http://ussrphoto.com/Wiki/default.asp?WikiCatID=98&ParentID=1&ContentID=87&Item=FED+1a

you can see that the last one turn registered is the s/n 6107, on my Fed 1a/Leica fake. As we have less than 6000 1a registered, one can think that all (or almost all) the Fed 1a were originally proposed with one turn lenses. Of course, some lenses can have been changed too before selling the camera. Or just after, to "improve" the camera.

Jacques.

Thank You Jacques!!

Does it mean all Fed 1a should have this one turn lens or do you think some have half turn lenses as later models?

I have two models like this. So I can suppose the lenses are no correct and have been replaced one day by standard models?

Hi Fred,

The right lens would be a "one turn" Industar 10. As for its serial number: between 5600 and 6000, probably, for the original one. But a one turn with any number will fit.
Congrats for this fine burnished Fed 1a.

Jacques.

No idea about which lens, but zillion congrats on the FED, I simply love these early unchromed ones w/o shoe & round contours!

Best regards,
Juhani
