Hi Vlad,

My suggestion would be to place one more section to Camera Catalog - "Commemorative Cameras". We both know many soviet cameras with Olympic symbolics or "Great October - 50 years". But existing also a big quantity of unique cameras with odd (and unknown) engravings. For example, I possess the preseries Fed Mikron with red engravings on the camera's rear "25 years of Kharkov city liberation". Even more - "Great October - 50 years" is quite common on Zorki-4 cameras, but it's not easy to find one on Fed-4 (especially on Fed-3) or Smena-6, etc. cameras. The same with Olympic symbolics - it's quite common on Zenit's and Fed's, but it's very rare to find one on Kiev-4M camera ... So let's think about it.

Yea yea you were right! :) I'll need to program some kind of linkage so it can also show up in the appropriate manufacturer area as well...

Hi Vlad,
You are welcome! I'll place to Festival cameras: Zorki-C and Zorki-2C to make the Commemorative Cameras section more complete and informative. Do you still doubt this section was unviable?

Regards,

Aidas

Aidas, thanks for posting all these cameras to the new section, I have a few more myself, I will keep adding them as well, i think I got a FED 5C 70years, Olympic FED 5V(these are trivial but I'll still add them), and I gotta look but I think I have a few more...

I guess you're somehwhat right .. maybe i will add cross-category option at some point in the future. So you can place an item to be in multiple categories and it will be updatable via single record.. Also maybe we can come up with additional classifications for cameras to go under the factory name to narrow it down more.. well the future will show..

I will actually roll out search feature for all the modules sometime in next 1 to 2 weeks.. that'll make things much easier to navigate. Plus I'm in process of redesigning the home page to have the overview of latest updates/additions etc be viewable with single glance.

I will add that category for now I guess, you've convinced me .. ..

In addition to my previous message, I‘d like to say, that question easy or hard to browse for a single camera seems not to be the most actual one recently. I can bet, you'll have the serious problems with items browsing just after the Wiki Catalog will be "crowded" with a lot of cameras. Your initial classification is not enough to find the proper camera easy (for example: just imagine the total 100 records of different Fed cameras). And your system is letting every new member to enter every single item he wants to. Do you realize how many useless "s**t" (sorry ...) you could find inside the Wiki Catalog just after it becomes popular ...

Hi Vlad,

In my opinion no one single collector will go through the whole Catalog lists looking for commemorative versions. It would great to have a place with all these commemorative cameras concentrated. The good point is - your other sections will be less "crowded" by total number of records, and the bad point is - you're unable to avoid the fakes and useless information. So I don't think you should place the same camera in few separate sections to make it easy to browse.

And if the man wants to see the Fed Mikron by itself, he will definitely turn to Fed Section. That's ok, let him go!

Well I just thought about it, if I create that separate section, then those cameras won't be under it's own manufacturer section, which will make them hard to browse for. If someone is looking for FED Mikron they would go to FED category and no commemorative, you know what I mean?

Will do! Thanks for a great suggestion!
