i have questions to the zorki 5 type2!

how many Zorki 5 were made in 1958? why the numbers begin with 589.....? there were not many made.

to the shutterspeeds:
my Zorki 5 (1958) has 1 / 25. my next n ° 87 in 1959, 1 / 30.
Have all in `58 1 / 25 and in `59 1 / 30?
Is the year 1958 the end of the 1 / 25 shutterspeeds? or gives it both speeds in this years?

to the leder:
why gives it 2 versions of leather in both years? has the leather a connection with the serial numbers?
my `58 has the new leather
my `59 has the old leather

thanks for answer
mike

Hi Guido,

I would be very happy to have such an engraved Zorki-6 indeed ...

Best Regards,
Aidas

Hello Aidas

It would be very interesting to see such a red labeled Zorki 5b!

On the other hand on dvdtechcameras.com I saw a picture of a "engraved* Zorki 6 that looks pretty normal, will say not faked.

Best wishes - Guido

... just wanted to mention, what existing very odd version of Zorki-5 (type-2) camera with RED nameplate plaque, instead of regular black one. I know the guy in Lithuania, who possess this authentic camera, so hoping to place some photos in Wiki Catologue soon ...

Best Regards,
Aidas

Hello Mike

Very interesting questions!

Well, I can't answer all of them, but I try to give you some:

In 1958 a total of 125000 Zorki 5a/b are produced or shipped. Looking to my records I would say that around 60000 of them were 5a models, so 65000 of the 5b version were made in 1958 and 111500 in 1959.

The change of the sutter speeds was not exactly at the time of the model change from 5a to 5b. But I can't say more on this because it's not recorded in my database.

About the lethering I can't say anything, sorry.

Best wishes - Guido
