Hi,

I have found a Kiev-90 manual guide with paper insert recently. The insert has hand-written information in Russian language:

http://www.ussrphoto.com/UserContent/kiev-90_3.jpg

I will try to translate the matter of this text: "starting from year 1986 appr. 100-150 Kiev-90 cameras were released per year".

May be any of you could confirm or to deny these numbers? Thanks in advance!

Best Regards,
Aidas

Good idea David,

I've added the 2 known cameras to Wiki.

Thanks,
Vlad.

I bought my Kiev-90 on eBay about two years ago. The camera serial number is 8800045. It would seem that more Kiev-90s were produced in 1988 than any other year. Perhaps we should list serial numbers in the Wiki Catalog.

My Kiev 88 is 8800025. I bought the entire kit, one out of 2 that came to Berlin! I have had it since 1988. There is a copy of the article on it that I wrote for the original Kiev Report also available!

It has been said that you should always have a goal that is at the limit of your reach. Unfortunately the KIEV-90 was just beyond the reach of the factory. The vast majority of these cameras do not work properly.

My basic feeling is "We are not impressed" I see very little to recomend it.

I far prefer my Kiev 88 as modified by ARAX to breach mount!

They usually go between $800 and $1200 US from what I've seen. I've seen 2 so far.. one on eBay and one on now apparently defunct sovietcamera.com.ua... I guess Vikentiy closed down shop, I've gotten quite a few rare cameras from him.. too bad.

Interesting. The Kiev 90 must be the "pinnacle" of USSR cameras. I have never seen one on eBay, even though some sellers sell the paperwork.

How much does a Kiev 90 normally fetch on eBay?

thanks, Zoom!

I was not able to understand the meaning of this word indeed ...

You forget to add: "...through Ukrkulttorg*..." ;)
