The post war Smena line (from 1953) was historically the firat camera to introduce the 40mm standard lens. This turned the camera compact and easily transportable This is an important landmark in 35mm camera history. Claims of the intelligent choice are done both by the much later mechanical Rollei 35 and Electronic Contessa S310/315.
