I bought this interesting camera that seems to be comprised on Lubitel lens and some kind of adapter. Can someone tell me the other parts used here, like the body and the lens extension housing, it looks very familiar but I can't put my finger what camera it's from. I'm pretty certain it's homemade unless you guys have another opinion. Thanks!

Hi, that looks like the top part of a Kiev 88 chimney finder fastened to the body of an old folding camera? Has the person who made it used the dioptre focussing helix as the focus mount of the lens? Quite clever.

Cheers,

Steve

Thanks xya! Yes you are both correct! I knew I saw this thing somewhere just couldn't remember where! I wonder if anyone could recognize a body now!

to me it looks as if someone has taken the body of a folding 6x9 camera to build a fixed one. the original opening of the film plane seems to be 6x9. if the lens comes from a 6x6 lubitel, it would not cover 6x9. so it makes sense to covert it, obviously to 6x4.5 (?), hence the necessity of a new red window for the new format.

the original body doesn't look homemade, maybe someone can identify it. perhaps it's a prototype, quite some companies building 120 film cameras tried to adapt their pruduction line compete with 135 film.
