The question (s) I have is this:
Does the brass chain mechanism (shutter cocking / film advance system)require lubrication or is it run dry ?
If a lubricant is required, what type. Or is graphite the proper one to use?
Thanks for any possible help.

Hello Alain,

I have read somewhere that WD40 is too thick for photo cameras... repairmen I think use something else for lubrication, I think some kind of specialized oil....

Yes, WD-40 is really sick in cameras... It will run to places where you don't want to have it :-/ I use weapon oil or sewer oil to lubricate the gears. WD-40 is good if an ocular of a Zorki or FED sits too tight, just apply one little drop, wait a day and the ocular will go out without damaging it.
