And a study about the Jena-Contax:
https://issuu.com/zeisshistoricasociety/docs/pdf-zhs-journal-spring-1999

Perhaps a bit dated, but it is a very good base of knowledge.

Thanks to have pointed the Zeiss Historica publication, Luiz. If possible, could you change the title of the thread (for example, by "Zeiss historica publications") so that we don't have any problems when searching on the site?

Amitiés. Jacques.

Reading such publications ar Always a delight!
One friend has called na special attention to the bottom clutches of Contaxes, never described in any text i have ever seen.
Jena Contaxes although externally identical have their constructions completely different being mounted by na internal screw non existant in pre-war Ikon Contaxes
Thanks for the link

Nice find and great to read! Prewar Contax cameras indeed use a different non metric screw thread for the variuos screws in the camera.

Construction is very different, some models even have another speed mechanism.

That one is interesting too:
https://issuu.com/zeisshistoricasociety/docs/pdf_zhs_journal_autumn_1990

It puts questions about the postwar Contaxes and their relation with Kiev cameras. I love these old articles too, even when the questions they put were solved... This article was written 27 years ago!

This one that I have just read again, about Carl Zeiss Jena, just after the war, by a Saalfeld employee.

I had yet seen those reviews
At
https://issuu.com/zeisshistoricasociety/docs/pdf-zhs-journal-autumn-1992
we can see the interesting Única and Wica câmeras

the great influence of Zeiss in the Soviet câmera industry in indeed a fact and I suggest to gather Zeiss Histórica articles to form a good reference on the mattr.

Remember that Única was somewhat revived in the Kiev Reportes of 1957

From the old days.....

Some time ago I had shown this Picture:

http://www.ussrphoto.com/UserContent/782017_contax ussr.png

detailed at

https://issuu.com/zeisshistoricasociety/docs/pdf_zhs_journal_autumn_1990

Saying this was really a Kiev

supporting by Komsomoletz and Lubitel sold as Jubilee I and II

and Moskvas as Ikomat C
Unhappily I had no credit in my affirmtions
Here I repeat the original Picture posted

Bear in mind that West German Zeiss Ikon were still able to produce pre-war folders like the 6x9 and 6x6 Ikontas - I think Ikomat may have been an export name for Ikontas. There is a suggestion that small numbers of Contax II's were produced in Jena on one of the production lines produced for the Soviets for the Kiev line. Its all a very grey area with various people publishing differing accounts..

Yes. The last series of Jena-Contaxes were very probably mounted in 1949/51. And, contrarily to the other Contax II (and III), the very last one (s/n 30xxx) had a factory flash plug on the the upper plate.
But on the advertising, it seems we have an ordinary prewar or wartime Contax II.

That advertising was used later to explain anything, that the East was invading the West... (currencies only!), or that the Jena-Contaxes never existed...

Jacques.
