Hi all & I have been interesed & collecting Russian (as it was then) cameras here in the UK for many years and for the past 2 years I have been Photographic Consultant, Aston's Auctioneers, Dudley.

On Thursday 29th March we have one of our camera sales which features the first part of a MASSIVE collection of Soviet equipment from a very well-known collector.

You will find the on-line catalogue here https://tinyurl.com/y7u3vnaf

If attending the auction please say hello (I will be wearing my camera tie). Free catalogues, tea & coffee available to all!

Hi Sean & thanks for the welcome. I have never seen (or heard of) these before - could be a useful set! BTW in the 2nd part of the "Russian Sale" in July we have a factory set of spare parts for KIEV-88 & KIEV-88 TTL cameras. Also lots more REALLY interesting items!

Hope someone here sees these posts and looks in on the auction. There seems to be a few members who would have some idea on how to fix fsu camaeras and thus could use these spare parts kits.

Hello again and just to say that we have the 2nd part of the Soviet camera collection in our auction next week (12th July).

https://tinyurl.com/ya7mkw4k

This time we have some amazing (and some not so amazing) SPY CAMERAS!

If you Google "Astons Auctioneers spy cameras" you should find a LOT of articles about this sale as it seems to have gone viral!

Let me know if anyone needs further information.

Regards
Tim

Sorry for the late reply monark, but I've been a little distracted lately with various things.

I presume that's a kgb spy camera? I also presume it's been sold by now, so I was wondering how much it sold for?

Hi Sean,

The umbrella spy camera with F-21 camera sold for £2,700, but the real surprise was a John Player Special spy camera with Kiev-30 that sold for £29,000.

David.

Hi David,

was there any explanation of this price? It was a real shock for me and I'm still curious if there was anything that secret or valuable in that JPS camera.
One more question, I won the lens Jupiter 25C on your auction, do you know what is wrong there with a rear lensblock there? Did you try to fix it?

Thank you very much, this was probably the most exciting auction in my experience. Many things were too expensive for me but I got chances to win several things that I could not get anywhere else, e.g a very nice Zenit-5 in the box with the charger. I hope you are satisfied with the auction results.

Haha yeah that JPS pricing blew me away! I'm ready to sell my identical set for 1/3 of that!

Hi Rkaipov,

Sorry for the delay, but I have been away.
There is no sensible explanation for the selling price of the JPS cigarette pack camera other than the fact that two bidders were competing.
I am afraid I never used the Jupiter 25C, so I was not aware of the problem. Most of my cameras and lenses were never used by me, as I was only interested in observing and displaying them.

David.
