Well, here is another 1947 KIEV II. Two weeks after receiving the one mentioned in the "just arrived in my collection" thread another one was in the post. I was surprised when I opened the packet.

But, like the other one, it's a collection of different parts from different times. Very intresting indeed. It has an accessory shoe from 1947, a Dresden Contax bayonet mount, chrome top plate and selftimer. The shutter seems to be one from 1949.

But the front mask ist from a KNEB of the early 50ies, the back from a KIEV IIa/IIIa and the lens is from the 60ies.

Just see some pictures. It's disassembled on the table mow, if you want to see other parts let me know. Just let us discuss a bit about this camera.

Fantastic! This is great reference, thank you Ulrich! Zeiss Contax wording already removed from shoe.

Vlad, whatever it is, it's an interesting collection of several pieces of Contax and Kiev cameras.

I have cleaned and reassembled all, had to replace some wrong screws (it was repaired with some bad fitting screws) and have replaced the later back with one from a broken 1952 Kiev. So it's a bit more authentic.

Looking for a lens for it (the one delivered was from 1960) I found a Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 1,5/50 in my storage, made in 1947. I think it looks nice on the Kiev :-)

Here you can see the different shining of the chromed parts, the top plate is from a Dresden Contax, it seems also the rewind knob, because the chrome shines the same way. The front mask of a Kiev from the 50ies has a total different chrome look.

And I've found a 1949 Zorki SK lens to make a family picture :)

I'm looking for a Kiev Jena 1947 for a long time ... it seems that all have disappeared. :(

Luigi, thanks. Yes, an original Jena Kiev would be nice to have. Here are so much parts from later Kievs that I don't think that it is one.

Wow you made a pretty nice quality Kotleta ! At least you know you have some very valuable parts inside!

Cheers,

Congrats for this Kiev, and for the work you have done on it!
Here is a photo of my 47 Kiev. A "Jena side" one, with "3978" engraved on the shutter, so 1948 or 1949.

Vlad, whoever has made this Kotleta ;-) I've asked the seller if he was selling a collection because he had so much Kievs on ebay. He answered me a collector that has collected a lot of sowjet cameras from 1990 on died. So both of my Kiev 1947 mixed up cameras where from the same guy.

And it's really interesting because of the Contax parts it has. The other one has more original Kiev 47 parts in it.

Jacques, thanks. The work is a real pleasure to me. Repairing, inspecting and understanding the old analog technologie is a good opposite to my work as software engeneer ;-)

By the way one of the latest Contax O series arrived here two weeks ago. As I know Contax O ends with number 65500, mine has number 65484. These cameras were produced in 1943, imagine that in summer 1943 Hamburg was destroyed and in Dreseden they built such a fine camera.

But as I can see restrictions due to war, it was made not so precise as earlier series. The back is made of aluminium, the leather bag is made of very thin leather, the engraving of the serial number on the shoe looks coarse.

This camera was never opened before so I was surprised that a screw inside the winding mechanism is missing and a spring near this screw sits in the wrong place. Maybe that is the reason why it looks like new, it never works good. Or the strap that is broken breaks down very early. It was sold in GDR, inside the leather bag is an address in "Karl-Marx-Stadt" (Chemnitz).

A very late Contax O is much interesting!
It could have left Dresden in parts, and be completed later with Jena/Kiev parts... It was the case for some late Contaxes.

Jacques, maybe it could be a compilation. I will take some pictures the next time to compare them.
