If you want to buy Soviet junk or cameras for spare parts, this is the seller to go to. Yes, his prices may be the lowest, but the cameras are not tested and often misrepresented. Plus the guy I've been in contact seemed very shady. Here's an account of my experience:
I've ordered 14 cameras from him. They got delivered. Well with 10 of these cameras I keep find problems as I start using them, but 4 had obvious issues right off the bet. Vilia that I ordered that said 'Like New' on the site came with different serial # than listed, the film advance was broken and not advancing and the nameplate with logo missing. Smena 9 that said 'like new' came in with faceplate name missing and all rusty when in eBay pictures looks new and with nameplate. The Kiev 30 that said 'brand new in a box' came in, in a box all right, but it was definitely not brand new, had a missing eye piece and at most could be described as 'least used', the 4th camera Smena 6 had problem with shutter not firing half the time.. well I contacted the guy asking whether he mixed up some cameras. He kept saying that he made no mistake and told me a story how sometimes Ukranian customs open the boxes and switch the cameras!!! How the heck is that possible?
Well to make long story short, after about 10 emails back and forth, and him refusing to admit that he made a mistake and sent me wrong cameras. I offered him to give me $40 refund and to forget the whole thing. His reply was - 'If I refund you $40 how am I going to make money?'. (the total of the order was $450.), after series of arguments back and forth and me saying that I will leave negative feedback, he said he will do the same to me but then he said to return the WHOLE order ONLY for full refund minus the shipping cost. I checked with USPS I wouldn've cost me $85 to ship it all back to Ukraine.. so I didn't want him to give me negative feedback back, I just told him that I will never buy from him again. And I never did.. I hope won't either.
I started dealing with Alex-photo and Asterliks and couldn't be happier with my purchases.. |
