KIV-2 Photo Extinction Meter

The KIV-2 is an extinction-type exposure meter. It was manufactured by Kulttovarov of Moscow, probably in the 1950s. On the front of the meter, behind glass, there is a scale of exposure times from 1/500 to 120 seconds. On the back are three scales and a small viewing aperture. The outermost scale is the film speed index marked from 11 to 360 GOST. The innermost scale is the aperture setting which ranges from f/1.4 to f/32. Between these two is a scale of exposure times from 1/1000 to 4 minutes. The small viewing aperture has a graduated neutral density filter behind it, so that by rotating the outer ring, the density can be adjusted to match the subject matter, thus allowing the exposure to be calculated.
