Posted - Feb 10 2019 : 05:49:56 AM Hi all!!
If you are interested, this topic is to share the fakes we all have in our collections. In our countries, we surely all have different models. The purpose is also to know from wich type of camera the fake is coming from.
I am starting with 2 models of Sagem camera. Engraving are in French What is interesting is the base plate engraving In correct French, we should have these words: Fermé for close or lock Ouvert for open These models have the same uncorrect word for open: Ouvré It does not exist in French. It's as you write opain for open....
Please enjoy
Fred

Posted - Oct 08 2021 : 11:51:48 AM Hello!
To answer Guido's question, this camera could have been a Fed 1c in a previous life, under the condition no original part was changed. To be more precise, between numbers c. 55000/85000, roughly.(position of different screws)
About the number of "fake" points, at least 6, I would say...
But to be more precise, it should be necessary to have a complete set of photos. That is not the purpose here.
Amitiés. Jacques. |

Posted - Oct 08 2021 : 11:14:53 AM Hello Alexander
Yes, that's a very nice one! The back of the camera would be interesting too by the way ...
Little contest for this occasion: What a camera it was before? What points show it is a fake? I've seen three at least (without comparing to an authenic one). Anyone?
Best wishes Guido

Posted - Oct 08 2021 : 02:43:16 AM Very nice and interesting, indeed! I had just seen another one until now. Does the 1/1000th work? Thanks, Alexander!

Posted - Oct 04 2021 : 10:35:11 AM I dig out this thread, just to add a word to Fred's message dated of 13/02/2019. This camera (a so called "Geodesiya") was made from a Fed 1b. The texture of the vulcanite is special and can be found aroud the s/n 12/15000 and 25/26000. So, more or less the same year as the original cameras. Not bad... So, lucky find, Fred!

Posted - Mar 19 2019 : 07:53:45 AM S/n of the lens: 6107. Certainly one of the last "one turn", and probably a bit too young for the body. I confirm about the numbers of the distance scale, which are normal. On the front, "FED" only was suppressed, and replaced by "Elmar": there are traces of erasion. No other modifications, by comparison with my other "one turn" lenses.
Amitiés. Jacques.

Posted - Mar 18 2019 : 5:22:18 PM Even the lens is original from early FED. What is serial no of the lens ? Why distance scale has so strange numbers ? |

Posted - Mar 17 2019 : 10:36:34 AM Yes, it's at least surprising. Another picture of the same Fed 1a/Leica:

Certainly, I have already posted about that fake.

Posted - Feb 23 2019 : 3:17:06 PM Hello Fred
Very nice fake of fake! It was made then together with the Zorki-1 batch? This remembers me a fake Leica based on a Zorki-C I've seen in an (other?) forum. A nice try too ... ;-)
Best wishes - Guido

Posted - Feb 22 2019 : 5:31:43 PM Hello friends
Camera fakes and modifications are one of my special interessts some of you may know. There are 22 cameras in my collection at the moment, most of them "FED-Zorki" (8), five of them 1949 (!). But there are also some "special" FED's (4), two of them "Sibiria's". Also two Kristall's (full black und partial red), two Leica IId, and a colorful Leica-72. And a fake TSSVS of cause with an original Sonnar 50mm/2.0. Last but not least some modifications of the Zorki-1 (3) and one Zorki-3, not counting the two UssrPhoto commemoration cameras by the way.
On eBay you can't find much of such modifications and fakes in our days because the last forger or craftpersons with this knowledge are retired or passed away. That's by the way the reason why we can't find someone to build a third UssrPhoto commemoration camera sadly.
Best wishes - Guido |

Posted - Feb 10 2019 : 1:31:04 PM Thank you Fred, so I made a good deal years ago when I bought this
Must take good pictures of my "golden" Lieca also, it is a purchase from the time I still scanned analogue prints... Even their prices have gone up nicely
Best regards, Juhani |

Posted - Feb 10 2019 : 12:29:00 PM From my point of vue Juhani, it is not a fke but a real Shanghai 58. It seems to be very difficult to copy this camera, especially the top cover and Slow speed selector. I own 3 Shanghai-58 and they seem to be exactly the same as yours...
I also have fake Shanghai-58. I'll make picture and post it

Actually I am not even sure if this is a fake or a true Shanghai-58-II Mk4 serial-#67006 from 1962. The price I paid was for a fake
