Posted - Oct 27 2007 : 8:36:26 PM I noted the Kiev 17 put by Vlad at; http://www.ussrphoto.com/Wiki/default.asp?WikiCatID=20&ParentID=1&ContentID=280&Item=Kiev+17 It seems a hand made camera and not a series produced one, --Or an extremely hard-to-find item. 1) Lens has Arsat engraved I believe this name was adopted only after 1999? 2) Camera and lens numbers begin with 95XXXX . those cameras ended production in 1985! 3) Made in Ukraine... OK in 1995 but not in 1985.... 4) Shuter speeds only ut to to 1/500 - Originally they go up to 1/1000 5) The camera has no exposure meter, So, why need battery cover? 6) Original film speed reminder is flat in Kiev 17 model 6) Tripod socket are originally off center in Kiev 17 7) Which is the seventh error? I know it is there.... Let us play the "Game of Seven Errors" LP |

Posted - Dec 08 2007 : 11:06:11 PM Hi,
I have a Kiev 17 s/n 822361. It has a 1/1000 top speed and a 1" slow speed. It has a mutiple exposure button on the winding nob, and no ttl metering. I believe I found the 7th error?

Posted - Oct 30 2007 : 9:52:38 PM I'm taking a chance that it may be a rare camera, but I don't need another Kiev 19 so I decided to sell it on eBay.

Posted - Oct 28 2007 : 10:08:30 PM I'm not so sure what to think.. I'm leaning toward completely removing it for now and then posting real one once I buy it.. or at least replace the images with one maybe from Aidas' site until I get a "real" one, at least we'll have an entry...
In any case I'll address it this week.
Thanks Bill!

Posted - Oct 28 2007 : 9:29:22 PM Vlad,
I hate to say this... but if you think it is a "fake" then it is an unusual one and you may want to rewrite or edit your entry and put it in that category for others to see.

Posted - Oct 28 2007 : 8:50:23 PM Number 9 - It seems that real Kiev 17 has the round exposure calculator on the back, when this one has square window for notes..
damn... I guess I got the 19 instead of 17... the bad part is it came from a dealer than never should have made such a mistake.. I'll have to take it up with him.. having never owned a Kiev 17 I wouldn't have know what to look for right away... I guess I need to buy a real Kiev 17 now... |
