But look on the bottom, and on the light meter - that is Kiev 4, isn't it? okynek	Posted - Nov 11 2009 : 10:07:09 PM Ulrich, I'll try to disasemled this camera later. Right now I do not have confidence and time to do this . I'm pretty sure by now that all mechanic inside the camera from Kiev 4.

New skin very well hided hole from removed flash connector. Lens is original from earlier Kiev 3, so serial number, light meter calculator and few other parts. It make this meatlove a pathetic fake. Mystery solved !

Interesting would be if the shutter has a flash connector and the number stamped on top of the shutter. As I know only early shutters (up to 195?) have numbers stamped in. Correct me if I'm wrong. okynek	Posted - Nov 09 2009 : 2:35:45 PM With little time I have I continue go forward with investigation about this camera or cameras, as mention Vlad existence at list 3 such monsters. While I ruled out that body belong to Kiev 3, question remains: All Kiev RF have flash synchronizer except Kiev 3. Camera in questions does not have flash synchronizer. But it can not be Kiev 3, check how bottom looks. It may be possible to change light meter housing, but it impossible to change bottom of the camera. It molded and can not be modified. So body has to be from Kiev 4...... without flash synchronizer? This is a little bit weird. Tomorrow I'll try to get under the skin
Vlad	Posted - Nov 08 2009 : 09:28:47 AM Thanks for finding that Jacques! Which again bring us to the notion of pattern. We have 3 of these "meatloaf" Kievs, all with "A" serial numbers. This points to some kind of late III or early IV model existence. Any objections? Vlad

uwittehh	Posted - Nov 08 2009 : 08:06:02 AM A curios camera... I wonder a bit about the rough leather that looks like the one on Kievs from the 70ies and later. Kievs of the 50ies have much more finer leather. So it could be a rebuilt even if can not see any marks on the screws. If you are carefully enough you can't see that a camera was opened before. Perhaps it was Michel? Anyway, your lens is rare: an early 1951 Jupiter 8 with Zeiss's ears... bravo! Amiti�s. Jacques.
okynek	Posted - Nov 08 2009 : 07:50:11 AM Serial number on the lens is 5100711. I'm agreed that camera most likely was rebuild (I have not other explanation), but where is the flash connector? jed	Posted - Nov 08 2009 : 05:13:06 AM It looks like a 're-built' camera. Look at the screws - they are in bad condition. Please post the s/n of the lens. A rare jupiter 8 IMHO :)
