Hello,

an interesting FED 1b arrived here the last days. The engraving on the top is removed and it was repainted with gray color. First I thought that it was made in the 80ies or 90ies ehen a lot of FEDs were made to faked Leicas, but while disassembling it I have found a date that somebody scratched under the top plate: 7.II.48. Well, that's interesting. I think it is real, but why should somebody has done this in the late 40ies? The lens number is 50099, that matches to a 1B. And by the way, somebody has replaced the shutter curtains. You can see that the stitching it hand made. So I think this could really be done in the late 40ies.
All in all it's another curious piece in my collection :-)
