Another question :-)

I also received a FED 2b with dark brown painting. First I thought it was black but I noticed that it is painted dark brown *inside*. I took a flashlight to inspect it closer and in that light I can see that the outside of the body is dark brown painted too. It is hard to see but it looks real because there are some parts that were repainted with black color :-)

Princelle writes that only FED 2c with dark brown painting exist. What does the 1200 cameras book tells about dark brown FED 2b?

Certainly a good one, that time!

Jacques,

another dark brown FED 2b arrives here some weeks ago. This is now black inside and the paint looks better. And the serial starts with 273, so it's close to yours. I believe that this is a real one and my other on the pictures above is a home made job.

Hm, ok, I believe you both :-) Jacques, it's more dark brown than red-brown as on the photo, I have made it ligther so that the color can be seen more.

SO if it's not original it was very well made. All parts of the camera must have been disassembled before repainting it. And it looks as if this color change was made several years ago, parts on the body are rubbed off and there are also some missing parts of the dark brown painting.

But it's an interesting piece for my collection :-)

My red brown serial # 279818 has a black inside...
Probably Vlad is right.

Amitiés. Jacques.

I think I've seen this before. It's a home-made job usually, I think they just mask it and powercoat it.. It gives you usually the best finish.

Today there is some sun here and so I have made 2 pictures of the FED 2. I wonder a bit that it is dark brown inside, the dark red, green and blue ones I know are only colored at the outside of the body.
