Posted - Apr 18 2010 : 2:38:55 PM Dear friends
On eBay you can find a F-21 with a sort of range finder on the bottom. Do anyone know anything about this part?
Link to eBay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110517757599
Thank you for any hint about this part.
Best wishes - Guido

A small journey would be very good to aerate this good old F21 but for its health, best will be to send it by boat: the sea air is better !!!

Posted - Apr 23 2010 : 4:38:22 PM Hi Alain,
Yes, it is a good idea that the rangefinder may have come from some other small camera and was used for a unique purpose. It was something I didn't think of, but I will check it when the camera arrives and in the meantime I will take a look through McKeowen's to see if I can spot it on another camera!
Don't worry Alain ... if you like me to, once I get it and play with it a few days, I will send it over to you in France and when you have played with it you can send it back to me! A little travel between friends is a good friendly thing for a small KGB camera that was, no doubt, put to evil use in the past! ;-)

Posted - Apr 20 2010 : 6:23:13 PM Alain,
Do you have any ideas about which German camera it may have come from, if that is indeed the case. I had not considered it, but I will start checking photos of some old German cameras to see if that could be correct!

Posted - Apr 20 2010 : 10:02:24 AM Hi David, As soon as it arrives I will put a full description and photos on the WIKI and start a forum post in case there are discussion points and observations. I think it will be interesting to take the lens off to see what linkage there is between the focusing ring and rangefinder. Sorry to outbid you David ... the auctions are always hard when we are always bidding against friends.
Hi Alain, I suspect that the rangefinder may be made in the same "shop" as the camera since the serial numbers are very close and also in the exact same type face style. But, this rangefinder is very tiny with the windows so close together ... so, does it really work ... and what was its purpose ... close-up focusing for documents? Maybe we will see. My best to you Alain!

Posted - Apr 20 2010 : 02:41:00 AM Hi Bill,
I am naturally disappointed not to win this very interesting item. I was one of the two bidders between you and Alain. I look forward to seeing your full description and assessment of the F-21 add-on rangefinder. At least it has ended up where we can all learn about it.
David

Posted - Apr 19 2010 : 5:07:59 PM Hi Guido, No problem and I will tell you what I can when it arrives. It will be interesting to see if the rangefinder is accurate and how it is attached to the focusing mechanism.
Hi Ulrich, No, I have not seen a green Sport. Maybe the color is not original. Looks very clean ... almost too clean. But maybe original. Maybe leather .. maybe VIP leather!

Posted - Apr 19 2010 : 4:22:57 PM Bill, I also bid to it but had no chance to place my bid :-) So I wasn't one of the two guys. But the seller had this very interesting dark green "Sport". Unfortunately I was overbid. I think it is really rare, Princelle says something of "VIP version". Have you seen a green Sport before?
