Hi there,

Do you know when the current serial number system (Year+xxxxx) was implemented?

I just bought a KMZ M39 Mir 1 lens with 014112 serial number. It makes reference to the 1958 fair Grand Prix (cyrillic engraving) so it must be a late '50 - early '60 lens. But this SN does not match with the usual rule.

So, when did the SN coding changed for such lens?

Best regards.

Hi Nicolas,

the MIR-1 (M39) lens got the new numeration at the beginning of 1960, when the assembling of these lenses was moved to ZOMZ (Zagorsk factory). Until 1960 (KMZ) all Mir-1 lenses had standard numeration.
I also have one KMZ Mir-1 with s/n 005692 and two ZOMZ Mir-1 from 1963 (s/n 63...) and 1967 (s/n 67...).

Regards, Alexander
