Posted - Jan 10 2012 : 02:17:34 AM Filmoscops, models 1 and 2 were 35mm card-mounted slide viewers. They were manufactured in Leningrad. They were normally sold with a set of slides (often of Leningrad or Moscow). The main body of the unit is made from black bakelite. Unfortunately, the slot for the slide was too small for some slide mounts. They had no internal illumination and used daylight or an artificial light source. The price was 1 rouble 30 kopeks.
Most likely the 2nd gen of this gadget Luckily we have the Wiki here
Best regards, Juhani

Posted - Jan 09 2012 : 02:12:12 AM Hi Rudster,
I bought a new Filmoscop-2 in Moscow in July 1964. The passport says that it was manufactured in May 1964. I think that production possibly started early in the 1960s.
David.
