Posted - Jan 27 2012 : 3:14:34 PM I agreed with everything you say, except that quote: General Motors and Chrysler they are now in very good positions
. Chrysler went from hands to hands in last few years, even Germans could not make it work; now it belong to Fiat. GM is bankrupt and only survive on government help. They are both walking dead, I believe that they will never raze up even to shadow of they glory. Unfortunately Kodak go same way. IMHO Kodak name will survive, while company will not. Let hope for best. Cameras will never dye!!!! Kodak or not Kodak |

Posted - Jan 26 2012 : 7:47:39 PM OK, but let us see: Using Chinese money or not, observe you correctly said: Kodak was betting on mass market right from the beginning, making cheap disposable cameras, film, photo-paper, chemical, ect., items what customers will buy over, and over, and over again. And it work for 100 and some years. Now film and associatet material they sell at high prices! Really salaries at kodak are relalatively lower than other enterprises but managers who do not contribute for the technical development of the enterprise earn high salaries. Pehaps you do not now burt here in Brazil kodak do not sell a single film. All are Chinese "Lucky film" with Kodak name. Digital cameras came from elsewhere. During almost all Kodak history it was loosing money making cameras, processing machines, and other hardware, but it get 100000 times money back selling film, paper, or processing photographs. Observe that similar positions were lived by General Motors and Chrysler they are now in very good positions. I believe that they still should change the overall position. Remember that they paid the New york times to adopt digital in their newspapers! the time will tell us. Of courses a different company will be born. |

Posted - Jan 26 2012 : 4:33:54 PM Luiz, IMHO unfortunately Kodak days are numbered, even if it emerged from bankruptcy using Chinese money (who else able to help?) it will not be same Kodak. Well it not the same Kodak as we know it now any way. Kodak was betting on mass market right from the beginning, making cheap disposable cameras, film, photo-paper, chemical, ect., items what customers will buy over, and over, and over again. And it work for 100 and some years. Digital era has different criteria, customer looking for highest quality and willing pay more for best, but pay only ones. Kodak had problems with this concept. During almost all Kodak history it was loosing money making cameras, processing machines, and other hardware, but it get 100000 times money back selling film, paper, or processing photographs. All these gone with digital, the only thing left is KODAK name, which will be sold and live for some times as a different company. |
