And on my two Fed NKVD with consecutive numbers, the numbers "dance" in the same manner:

Probably the engravings were made partly by hand, or with a machine tool not well regulated. Like for the Fed 2...

Very interesting camera, I have seen it already some time ago.
But the engraving seems a little strange for me, especially the last two zeros. They are out of line.

Probably the last Fed 2 to have the ancient numbering: the first Fed 3, theorically (I never saw it!) has the serial number 1000001.
