Hello
Allow me to hijack this thread with a question: I have a light green/yellow filter that came with a Industar 26 M.
The inscription on the filter ring shows Æ C-17 and 40,5 X 0,5 together with what seems to be a Lyktarino logo (the "C" inside a sort of triangle with curved sides).
My question is what is the "filter factor" of this filter - or, in practical terms, how much do I need to change in f-stops ?
I apologize if my question is in the wrong place.
Thank you in advance for any input
Regards
Joao

Jacques ! You are totally right! The diameter of the yellow glass - 23,3 mm and red Glass 21,3 mm .

Thanks, Alexey.
There is a difference in the internal diameter, as it seems:
the "younger" one is larger, no?

Amitiés. Jacques.

Hello everyone! I showed an example of the new and the old filter FED. They are identical in diameter.

Chris, my dark yellow filter indeed has "FED 4" engraved in the glass, the light yellow filter has no such engraving. Both are 21mm in diameter.
Can you please post some photos of your filters and cases?

I'd like to build a wiki article about FED filters.

Regards,
Christian

Very interesting.
I thought Fed had made filters only before WW2.
Thanks for the passport and the details about the diameter!

Jacques.

Hi Levonsa
Very interesting to see the passport for this filter. I have the same filter in the same box but without the passport. Does anyone know when production of this style of filter ceased? I would suspect that the KMZ style of push-on filter would have taken over from the pre-war FED style in the early 1950's. Did FED ever produce filters in the KMZ style? Interesting to note that the glasses of the post-war FED filters are larger than the pre-war ones - 23mm as against 21mm - doesn't sound much but very noticeable when the filters are put side by side.

Hi Niko80
Pre-war FED filters are usually marked on the glass. If you use a high power magnifier and look near the edge of the glass you should see FED filter type identity in the glass - Fed-2 for yellow and Fed-4 for orange. I have a few of these including one in beige FED marked box (no passport) and another in black leather FED marked case with stamped pattern.

ATB Chris.

Nice!

I think this should be added to the wiki.

Can you translate what the passport says? I see it was issued in 1951.

I have 2 filters without any inscripions:

Christian
