It is with great pleasure I would like to announce a new book by my great friend and a camera collector Aidas Pikiotas - "Epoch of LOMO. Cameras and People".

After many years of hard work and travelling all over former Soviet Union collecting materials regarding LOMO cameras, taking photographs and listening to stories from various camera designers, current and former LOMO employees, Aidas had dedicated this grand project to 100 year of LOMO factory anniversary.

This book is written in style of three sections per camera. Section 1 describes technical characteristics of camera made at LOMO factory, section 2 is a historical background for the camera and section 3 contains a background on the people behind it - camera creators and designers. It is a very solid body of work with slew of new information that was only marginally touched by other publications.

This book has been for now only published in Russian language.

Currently this book is NOT available for sale as the copyright was graciously granted to LOMO factory by Aidas, so the factory is only releasing a limited number of these.

Aidas will inform on the forum if there are any extras published for sale in near future, at this point any member who would like to purchase one will be able to do so.

The English version of the book was in works but LOMO needs some convincing in terms of people expressing interest in publishing this book in English. So if you would like this book to be available in English please voice your opinion.

Here are some photographs of the book:

I am canditade on this new book be it in Russian or English Language.

But there is an old Italian proverb that says "Traduttore-Traditore". That means Translator Traitorous.

Fantastic news! Thank you Aidas. I hope that LOMO will release an English version as soon as possible. Vlad, perhaps if there is enough response requesting an English version, you could pass this on to LOMO.

Great announcement!
My particular best regards to Aidas by his painstaking efforts in cataloging and worldwide spreading the knowledge of a so important conglomerate, without excluding the other companies that created a huge nation of Peace and Knowledge.
Great Aidas!

To Vlad, who is undoubtably a Great friend to all of us. I remember a particular mail to me when we both meet orselves through the IDCC and he said that he will send a GIFT to me! Some days after he introduced the USSRPhoto fórum. Without him this USSRCamera Encyclopaedia would not be born and an International reference on Russian equipment would not exist.

Good Luck and Great Life to all members!
