.....with you when traveling?
Just for general interest please read this story that I found on a digital camera forum:

"Dear All,
I wanted to tell you about Barcelona and the constant threat for your camera.
I have been travelling for years in North America, Asia, South East Asia and Europe and it is the first time I got something stolen in a trip !!! While I am on the street I am very careful but since I was driving I did not think that my camera was exposed. I am very upset, my brand new K10D and its lenses, including all my pictures of the wonderful city are gone!!! How ironic on the last day. Moreover, I haven't even had the opportunity to see a single picture of the K10D on a computer screen... nor to evaluate the qualiy of the TAMRON 18-250 mm that I got.

So this is how happened:

I was driving in the city and I was told that I had a flat tyre at a redlight. My wife went out the car to take a look and it was true. So I parked the car on the side walk and changed the wheel. The camera bag and the hand bag were gone while we were changing the wheel. We only noticed when we finished the work...

I found strange that my tyre had a knife mark... I then understood the whole story but it was too late for my camera... Nice Xmas!!!

Please let all the people you know to be careful when travelling in Spain, especially Barcelona. It is apparently very common - even worse than Roma. Your camera is constantly in danger...

Take Care.

Not if I have this guy on the seat next to it.

I could add #4 to your list:
Having only an old FSU laying on the seat could make them angry and cause them to do you bodily harm. Bad idea I guess.

so if it was a Zenit in the bag - they would:

1. Come back and return your camera bag while apologizing profusely
2. Quickly fix your tire and get bouquet of roses for the wife
3. Pay you $100 on top with request to keep this kinds of cameras outside of Barcelona and not to confuse poor Spanish bandits with lure of treasure!
