Posted - Aug 11 2019 : 4:55:25 PM It looks like a factory defect, they just forgot to chrome/paint that part, very common in USSR production.

Looking at your picture I can't see no white parts. They are gray but I have to admit that's a bit lighter gray than usual. But this could be a question of photography maybe. On some pictures I saw I found the same effect. There is mostly a little difference in color between the front ring and the inner part of around the front lens element. Just my 2 cent ...
