Posted - Mar 06 2008 : 9:56:46 PM Just a caveat to those thinking of getting an imarect finder, Check it closely, Most I received to repair I sent back because they were too expensive to recement the back to back prisms. They are nice if you can find a good one, another route would be one that just masks off the frame size. I really like the bright line finders though. Don |

You can post stuff in the forum as long as you don't hotlink and cite the source: (I do ask for full permission for Wiki catalog entries though)

Posted - Mar 07 2008 : 12:26:22 PM I am sorry Vlad the turret finders are Japanese or Russian. Imarect are variable by lens internal. Don |

Posted - Mar 07 2008 : 11:24:07 AM Vlad: The Imarect finder is the Leica version of multiple fl finder, It might be a better to get one of the Russian or Japanese finders .These change viewfinder fl by a turret you rotate. I have seen many that the balsam between prisms has gone bad and looks hazy, it still works but somewhat distracting to use. Of those I was asked to repair most just had optical cement separation. To repair something like this required removing the prisms, carefully heating to separate them and then let them cool and remove any leftover cement. The recement process is easier except for the alignment of the two prisms. Needless to say a very expensive job.Don |
