Hi,

I notice that the articles and the pictures for some cameras are taken straight off other web sites. I guess it's an OK way to start a site, but in the long run I guess we should try to replace them with something written by ourselves, don't you think? Otherwise it's a great way to build up a bad reputation.

Philipp

OK - if the respective site owners agree beforehand I don't think there's a problem. :)

Phillip,

All the pictures and the text are taken with explicit permissions of all respective owners of the site, in most cases added by these owners of the sites themselves. In all cases all owners are also credited with the materials taken from their site, unless they do not want to be. The idea behind this project is for all collectors to contribute to this project by donating their own photos of cameras and text that they have accumulated.

A lot of entry posts that you see by me were made with full blessing of the respective owners, the only reason I've added them is to save them time and get the materials faster onto this site..

Before reposting an image from someone's site, the email is sent to the owner, introducing the site and asking for permission to repost their stuff. In all cases so far the owners are more than happy to contribute the materials because, 1st it gets their name out there (because all materials are credited and can be linked back) and 2nd they get to use anything from this site on theirs. Moreover, most of them are very excited about the project and are happy to participate themselves! This site is not for commercial use, it is purely for free information exchange unprecedented in this field and to create a central repository for all soviet equipment.

Regards,
Vlad

Hi Philipp,

I am the owner of the website: www.nightphoto.com and I have added many things to the WIKI section from my own site, and as well I have told Vlad who developed this site that he is also welcome to use photos or information from my site.

All of the photos on my site were taken by me, the entries written by me, and the cameras are in my collection. Of course once the entries are entered in the WIKI section of this site, anyone can add to or edit the written information.

Regards, Bill

I would fully agree, but is it not the case that the owners of those sites have given permission and are in fact members here? Presumably the Wiki principle, if I understand it correctly, allows revision of all articles, so they should soon develop a unique nature as knowledge grows and is shared.

I hope I'm right? :)

Cheers, Ian
