Posted - May 22 2008 : 07:20:44 AM Hi Alain,
I know, you have a great Smena collection (may be No.1 in the world)! But knowing how many variations were made during the years, it's probably impossible to have COMPLETE collection in one hands, I think ...

Thank you! It's shame on me, but I still have no regular Smena-6 with black top plate ...
BTW I possess at least 9 Smena-6 cameras in my collection and all are different visually ...
Best Regards, Aidas |

Posted - May 20 2008 : 11:51:30 AM Vlad,
I'm happy to have the earliest version of Smena-5 camera. It came from the first batch, so is identical to camera from Sovetskoe foto. It's interesting to mention, that earliest cameras had lesser tall in comparison with regular ones ... I just have measured two cameras and my Smena-5 #005847 is appr. 76mm tall, and my new Smena-6 is 78mm.
And the shutter button is metal one in both pictures indeed ... |

Posted - May 20 2008 : 10:22:17 AM Wow Aidas congratulations!! Now we know that there are 2 variations of this early camera! One with strap lugs and one without also yours has some circle thing on the left, is that a hole by any chance for a strap lug? It's also hard to see but it seems like your version does not have the horizontal lines in the mold of the front plate on the bottom right like the one from the magazine. And also yours is a black-top and the shutter button is metal where on the scan it seems like it's a square plastic shutter button. |
