Posted - Jun 06 2008 : 1:26:23 PM I only own a few fakes. This is one of the most interesting. The metal has a strange brownish tint. It was strange enough to me that I had the plating tested to find out what it was!
Challange: What is this camera plated with? I will confirm if it is guessed or will post the answer monday.

Good eye! Yes it is plated in Titanium.
I was curious what it would cost to do it to a camera so I researched it. I was quoted over $5000 and it would take approx 6 months.

Posted - Jun 06 2008 : 7:08:56 PM Nathan The first fake Yura very probably is plated with real Titanium! In Russia this was once common once I bought real titanium dishes at extreme low price with a street vendor. Star War surplus after the fall of the Empire! Regards LP

Posted - Jun 06 2008 : 6:15:07 PM I will guess ... silver-plating? Maybe browned as it tarnished a bit?

Posted - Jun 06 2008 : 3:56:38 PM Wow this is cool looking version! It does look nickel-plated, I agree with Steve. I have same exact one but shiny chrome finish . I can post pictures if interested.

Posted - Jun 06 2008 : 1:34:55 PM Hi Nathan,
I own a Leica fake with a similar finish. I think it looks to be nickel. This particular fake was finished beautifully, and above all, put together better than new.
