Posted - Jul 09 2008 : 7:53:53 PM Hey
i was shooting my 135VS the other day when the shutter seemed odd. When I unloaded the film, I noticed the shutter was stuck slightly open. I fired the shutter off and it seemed to clear, but firing it again stuck the shutter again. The shutter than stuck totaly. Any idea what could cause this? I managed to get one film out of it with no problem, and this fault just developed at the end of the last film.
Thanks

The camera seems fine now, all it needed was a little cleaning of the mechanism and a light application of clock oil :)
Thanks again

Im going to give the repair a shot when I get a decent set of screwdrivers, my current ones cost £1 and are pretty poor. As far as I've gathered, the repair will cost more than a new camera, so nothing to lose really.
Thanks again :)

Posted - Jul 12 2008 : 05:46:37 AM There are three screws around the footage scale disc. Simple loose them and remove the full ring. Do this with the camera at infinity position. Watch and place a mark in the internal lens cone. Unscrew the lens and watch the psition the lens bloch is out. Put a mark in the entrance position of the helicoid . A grooved ring can be seen now,, it is retained by a 3/4 screw head, Put the screw in the psition you can unscrew the crown. Carefully remove the speed ring. Now you can see all the shutter mechanics . Make the diagnosis of the fault and correct it. Good luck and regards LP

Posted - Jul 10 2008 : 3:26:31 PM Hey,
Thanks for that advice :)
I would probably be able to do the necessary to repair it (the CLA on my Zorki 4 went pretty well), but I think I could do with some direction on how to remove the lens.
P.s. The film advance seems to be working fine, the motor winds ok, and the takeup spool and sprockets move fine.
Thanks

Posted - Jul 09 2008 : 8:36:23 PM Blacknoise Welcome! Lomo 35VS has the same shutter employed on Smena Symbol and Smena SL (Rapid). What happened with you is not a common fault. If you now what to do, remove the lens and open the shutter front. 1)Watch the speed gears see if they run properly. if not try to repair or substitute. 2)watch if there is no loose screw in the internal. 3)the advance mechanism needs lubing with fine oil from time to time. A question: The camera runs properly with the stuck shutter? Regards and good luck LP |
