Another one (Aidas has one in his website), again from my favourite seller here in Finland.
I will ask him what is the story behid it, but I doubt that it would be a later made fake. He has bought his cameras from USSR/Russia on his visits there, no high prices and so on. So if added later the no extra for the one who added it.

PS: Just phoned the seller, it is bought from USSR several years ago (before ebay-era) and no extra price because of the label, from an ordinary camera shop. Label looks like it has been on camera since new, even wear is similar to camera wear. So why would the label be added afterwards, as it has not given the camera any extra value or made it more wanted?

So are the production years incoffect? Maybe "7" prod was started earlier, in small numbers?

They could also replace a face place. Also without intention to fraud. Glue was as good as screwdrivers in former USSR, you know. I sow many Smenas of this type without name.

It did arrive today. And yes, it is a "6" body. But who ever did change the top was a pro, as the screws look immaculate. And if you do know how the normal USSR-screwdrivers are you also know that with these you can not open/close screws without leaving marks on them!
So propably the top got broken (you know the bakelite) when the "7" was pretty new, and a camera shop or repair man took a top from a "7". Also that one may have been broken, but back door or bottom. You never know, but that would be a natural explanation. No intended fake, just repair with whta you have.

Well, I will do comparison when it arrives. And if so I will take a "6-top" to make it back the way it should!

BTW: So this is no fake, but likely a repair done ages ago, resulting in a Frankensmena

Juhani,

I don't think this camera could be authentic one. I'm almost sure it's Smena-6 with top plate of Smena-7.

You know, that Smena-7 is simplified version of "6" i.e. without selftimer on the shutter. I can see the selftimer on your picture very clearly ...

Best Regards,
Aidas
