Posted - Nov 23 2008 : 5:20:48 PM Hi I have been hanging around in Rangefinder forum , and have just '' dees' covered this place. I have a dee'sruptive autistic imp[airment] I love puns 'cos all the alternatives go through my head , so I may as well adopt them . It's a lot like a lost child in a confusing world , 6 going on 60. I stumbled on an article in AP [ UK ] in mid 2006 about Zorki cameras . Now , I can't connect to virtually anything - it's like I can't see it somehow , but the Zorki was WOW - REAL ! I found a Zorki 1 in a Leica shop [ dee'ficult for me as I don't do people and establishment ] It was , like all the ex-USSR cameras I have seen in UK shops , grey and tired , like needing a good clean , but it was great . I recycled several £100 worth of old Dinky toys and went a bit crazy on twin Leica II , twin Leica IIIc ... and other twins - Fed 1 g black Leica-likes , Zorki 1 and Zorki S '' Leicas '', Zenit 1 and Zenit S , restored by altai , and then a set of Fed 1 / Zorki 1 / Zorki S / Zorki 2S , all restored by altai .This confirmed taht when new they must have been a joy to own [ when they worked ! I have deeslexia problems with Cyrilic script , hence the Leica pretenders .Not so good for a USSR camera collector ! Latterly , I found Kiev and the magic worked once more [ same shape as Dad's 1957 Praktina ! I have a few now , but am konsidering having a couple refinished in Nickel plate with tan leather , 'cos I really want something special ! Oh , and an inheritance allowed me a Leica M 8 , with a lovely Fed collapsible 50mm f 3.5 , Jupiter 8 and rigid I 22 to complement the Summitar and Elmar - nothing modern as I love that vintage look ! I hope to follow the threads here .
