Hi Gerard,
I was looking at my FT-2 cassettes and the standard reusable cassettes. In theory if you find a reusable cassette that fits height-wise into the FT-2 you can probably just file off the tail of the spool.. but all the ones I got a bit tall... they don't fit by like 2mm... maybe some plastic ones may work? I didn't have any handy to experiment on.

Dear Vlad,
Many thanks for the sending of the email to inform me about a osting, great gesture too! Now about the cassette; indeed as told filing of the top is needed. In fact to be specified the (spool-) holder house is quite simple. If you use adhesive velours foil for the opening you are ready. I am studying about the construction of the cassette house. I presume made of study card useful? Best Gerard

The posting email was probably automated, you must've subscribed to this thread .
If you are going to use the heavy card stock for the housing of the cassette, that may work, I would sure it's black though so it's lightproof.. If you would like I can take detailed pictures of the real FT-2 cassette from my own FT-2 and post them here in high resolution. Let me know if that will help you, I will gladly do it for you.

All right, give me a couple of days to take these pictures if you don't mind... heavy workload this week :). I'll post them in this thread. I'm sure once people see those they will also have their own suggestion on how to modify them.

Gerard,
Here are the images, let me know if you need any more angles.
The dimensions of the cassette are:
Height: 38mm Diameter: 25mm Diameter if you go from one end to the tip of the film opening: 30mm
Sorry for overexposure, did these quick and dirty, had not time to calibrate the light.
Cheers,
Vlad |

Gerard at http://www.photohistory.ru/PanoramicCam.htm you ccan see description of FT 2 and other Russian panoramic cameras. and also see the cassettes. How to build your own cassettes 1)Use two 120 spools cutting thier axels up to the same size of a 35mm spool. 2)Cut two 25cm length 35mm width of back paper used in 120 films. 3)Bond the two paper tongues at the extremes of the film. Use the FT-2 as roll film camera. Note: 120 spools fit exactly in the advance button joint, this is also recommended if you will built the esternal shield. Or--- Convert it for 120 film taking pictures 50x 110mm-- The "Horizont 205" of the poor man. LP |

Dear Luiz, Many thanks for good tips. The websites I discover yet, thanks. Did you read "Living Image" with tip of "waterhouse diaphragm" I do hope to obtain next week the results of my own waterhouse diaphragm. Instead od using the described model I use a round model to fit just before the objective. If you release the shutter half way you are able to view inside the camera. By means of a magnifying glass you can inspecting the focus. Best Gerard |
