Hello, my name is David aka "Chalky" and I'm not a collector but have come across the site and found it useful while searching for information about some Russian cameras. I live in London and work in advertising. I've got a couple of Russian underwater cameras that I wanted to find out more about. They used to belong to my late father-in-law who had a camera shop, and he kept some stock and a fairly esoteric collection of photography related things that interested him. I think these housings fall into the latter category, although I can't be sure. They've been sitting in his loft for the last thirty years or so.
I've put some pictures of them up on the web at http://gallery.me.com/chalkywhite#gallery
One is a KPF-1 underwater housing and when we finally figured out how to open it (translated instructions aren't always the easiest!) discovered that it has a Zenit 3m camera with a Helios lens inside. The case is numbered number 00020 which may or may not mean anything - but I always think the lower the serial number the better!
The other is a very cool-looking LOMO underwater housing for a LOMO Sport 3 cine camera that we have with it. Again there are pictures on the site above and I don't know whether it was stock from the shop (there seems to be a price of £54:9:6d on it) or just something that caught my father-in-law's eye. He wasn't a diver by the way.
I hope you can help tell more me about them (and their value) and/or find it interesting. Cheers. |

David Your Gallery is very interesting! Very very! I remember that TOE England sold those pieces at 1968/1969.and they advertised them at the weekly Amateur Photographer magazine. The Sport 3/Kinobox is a jewel but the KPF must be a rarity mainly considering its low number. 000XXXat KMZ means prototypes os limited production. A very lucky aquisition Congratulations. LP |
