Just got off the phone with Viktor. Got some good news. He already has the soft-cover version in his hands but from what I understood it's the hard-cover that will be distributed and those are on its way to his and he should have those in 2 weeks. The book is huge and heavy. Viktor said they are ready to take pre-orders but he is working out the payment system for it and will have more info next week. The pricing is as follows in US Dollars:
Single copy is $180 + shipping 5-20 copies is $140 + shipping 20+ is $120 + shipping
For the U.S. members it may make sense price-wise to get one shipment and then distribute it in U.S. Yuri B of Fedka was kind enough to offer his assistance with that, I will let him post here for more details.

I can get a list of US members who will definitely buy the book. Based on the number of books, I would order a batch from Victor at the appropriate (reduced) price. Then I would sell the book to the people from the list at cost. Note that the cost will consist of the book price, shipping the book from Belarus to USA (this is to be determined) and shipping the book from NY to your address (which I can estimate when I know the book weight and your ZIP code). But I estimate this will still be less expensive than ordering a single book directly from Victor.
For international members (outside of the US) it could make more sense to order from Victor directly, since shipping from the US is probably as high or higher than shipping from Belarus.
So let's see if there is any interest in my suggestion. You can place your names and quantities right here, in this thread.

Hi Garry,
Yes this book actually mainly will be available in Belarus and Russia from what I understand. The distributor is still being worked out over there but you will be able to get it directly from MirFoto in Minsk as well. I will post more details next week on how to purchase these directly once I get the information from Viktor.

Thank you Zoom! Didn't think to look on MirFoto site. . But I guess there is a phone # for the C.I.S. residents to purchase it directly. Viktor also mentioned that post office money transfers can be accepted within Russia/Belarus etc..
For Asia, Europe and Americas we are waiting on method of payment.

Just a little update: Talked to Viktor on the phone today - he got very sick after the book presentation and had not been able to figure out an overseas shipment plan just yet because of that. We are hoping to resolve that next week.
The book will be sold in retail stores in Moscow and Minsk at least from what I understood...
To Luiz: I've asked about shipment to Brazil, he will also try to find a way.
Cheers, Vlad |

Hello Alexander.
I just talked to Viktor today, the distribution for the Europe is just being set up now, so more information will be available in near future.. They are still waiting for the hard boxes for the book in order mass distribute them, so they won't be shipped in any significant numbers anywhere until that happens. I will post more info as I have it.

A bit of news from Viktor for the U.S. crowd who is involved in our bulk order and waiting on these. The books are now complete with the hard boxes and they are figuring out the acceptance of payment from overseas. Taking a bit longer than anticipated because it's not that easy apparently to get these from Belarus to U.S. . Juhani was lucky enough to have someone meet Viktor in Vilnius and get a quantity of those into Northern Europe.
As a side note these are should be already in stores in Belarus and Russia, see the mirfoto.by website for more info on that.
Cheers, Vlad |

Vlad I guess I missed the post about book order. I would definitely like to order one. If Victor will be kind enough to sign these books for us, I'll take 2 books, one for use and one for collection, to keep it intact I also wondering if this book will be available in electronic format, on CD, or on-line? It would really help me to use it at work !!!

Hi Okynek,
Yes, without going into details we're having difficulties transferring funds from U.S. to Belarus and shipping such heavy cargo since they have not done it before, Viktor is trying different options so it comes out cheapest for everyone. He is asking to bear with them while they figure it out.. I will also check back with him this weekend.I can assure you he has a pallet of 10 books that say "To USA" sitting in his office .

Vlad I have some experience shipping around the word, and specially in FSU. The most economical way to ship books is one-by-one by regular Mail. Other possibility is to go to Airport cargo facility and put them on a direct flight. And here in NY, Chicago or DC we will take them out of the plain. All Air companies offering this. Should not be a problem. UPS, FedEx, DHL is no good. They are too expensive and require too much paperwork.

Money can be send by regular mail using USPS Money order, or Western Union money order. Both easy to cash in FSU without paying tax. Other possibility is prepaid Visa/Master/AmEx card, again have to be send by regular mail in envelope. Money transfers is not working good between FSU and US and they to expensive because tax on both sides and bank fees.

Yes, he is looking at cargo options. Probably by sea since it's gonna be the cheapest. 10 books are like 50-60 kilos

He will not save much money by sea. Sea will take 2 month to arrive and then a lot of troubles to get them out of the cargo port. Ask Victor to research how much it cost to ship books one-by-one by Mail. I bet no more than $15/book. I would pay this extra to be able to read this book today. |

No for that weight it's at least about $50 a book it's a really heavy book if sent by airmail, but that's really not the problem, it how we transfer the money to them. There are some logistical issues in that regard. We'll get them here may just take a little bit. |

Alexander you should probably contact them again, they have actually ran out of the books from the initial print run so they have printed 500 more. I honestly have no idea how they handle the European orders... having tough time getting them to U.S. to start with , as you've seen from this thread...
Good luck! Vlad. |

Hi All,
I received my copy of the book this afternoon. It's quite nice and a lot to go through.
I do have a request of those who read Russian, however. I see my FED 2 Festival Camera listed, with correct serial number. Would someone be so kind to translate what is written?
I would appreciate it very much.
Thanks, Steve |

Производство любительской и профессиональной фотоаппаратуры в бывшем СССР было сосредоточено в основном на территории трех союзных республик. Для удобства классификации эти центры условно названы Российской, Белорусской, и Украинской региональными промышленными группами.
