Thank you to both Aidas and Vlad for this useful link. I was particularly interested in the reproductions of the early photographic literature and copies of Soviet Photo.

Joe,
The site you can run though Google translator but the content available for download - we're talking original documents here, magazines and books in electronic version, that's incredibly valuable. With proper skills and desire you can run though PDFs via OCR software and then Google-translate those as well into English! the hardest part - scanning all those in has been done for us! - or learn some Russian
