I just received a Kiev 4 with the 50mm F2 Jupiter 8M, #6801884. I purchased the camera due to an engraving of the Arsennal Logo with a red Hammer & Sickle placed within the logo. Most likely a fake Anniversary Camera.

What I didn't expect to find were the copper colored aperture blades made of the same material the shutter blades of the Kiev 10 and 15 series.. Looks fine but I would expect flare in particular lighting situations.

Does anyone else have such a lens? Was this a common practice to use this copper colored metal in place of the standard black blades?

If anyone has such a lens, did you take any outdoor shots with it? If so, how did they turnout?

Thanks,
Steve

My K mount Zenitar 16mm has bronze rather than copper coloured aperture blades and I have no problems with it- also my Zenitar 50/1.7. Having had a quick look at various FSU lenses, Helios 44k ,Zenitar 50/2 , etc they mostly, but not all ,have shiny silvery grey blades rather than black, and seem to work well enough- I suppose the only way to be sure is to stick a film through it

Samsung GX-10,too many Russian Lenses, A lot of Zenits, an Almaz 103 a few Yashica, and finally a Minox35GT

Original Start automatic Helios 44 was ever intriguing to me. Nine dull blades and a shiny one!
