Hey all,
A few days ago I received the FED-3 made as a candle and want to say that's it's very well done and incredibly detailed and is a great addition to my collection.

If anyone else would like one Alex has a few more:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NICE-CANDLE-COPY-FED-3-HAND-MADE-/350383596712?pt=Film_Cameras#ht_3681wt_1137
I was thinking this: The woman who makes these candles can make us special USSRPhoto.com Lubitel (1 or 2) camera exact copy candles like this just for us. I want to gauge the interest in these and to get your feedback whether it's a good idea. It'll be done in USSRPhoto.com colors and logo like the 2nd year anniversary FED-2 camera that we made 15 of.
Thoughts, ideas?
Vlad.

Vlad,
what an idea, a FED candle :-)) I think it is not a good idea to light it :-)
For another anniversary I have also an idea: I know a man that makes embroidering on jackets and so on. I have an USA milirary jacket with a LOMO logo on it. Maybe we can make a jacket with a FED or Zorki logo on the back and with anything else like "xx anniversary of ussrphoto.com"?

Ulrich,
Interesting idea with the jacket, but I have plenty of cloths on the merchadise site which has a link to from home page of this site, not a lot of interest in that, it's hard to display the cloths .
I was actually thinking of making specifically a Lubitel candle.. I guess only one person is interested so far . Did anyone else buy the FED-3 candle besides me?

I would like to see the next USSRPhoto.com commemorative camera be a Smena ... the first body style ... Smena-1 ~ Smena-4. They are small, can be bought reasonably, and look very beautiful. Maybe we could design some sort of engraved plaque for the camera and and a label and fitted interior that could be added to an original Smena box. Something like that. This time we could buy the cameras (with boxes)and make them ourselves (or at least partially ourselves) I wouldn't want a candle!
Regards, Bill

Hi Bill!
Actually I like the idea of making something that can be applied to an existing camera in the collection. But I think it's kinda hard to make something that attaches to an old Smena body, I really don't see the place where to stick that on that camera.. I'm actually now thinking along the lines of making custom leather covering for Zenit-E maybe? This company sells these custom designs, maybe they can custom-make us our own.

What do you think? I may be easier to produce than the plaque for Smenas..
Cheers, Vlad. |

Maybe we could have a design contest for the next USSRPhoto.com commemorative item! Everyone who wants to participate could make a design or even a prototype of it.
I would buy an old Smena and start working on it ... but not quite sure what to do yet! I don't like Zenit-E very much ;>)

It doesn't really have to be Zenit-E, I think anything with a leather covering that can be taken off will do for these custom skins. These guys seem to customize these pretty easily and fairly cheaply. A Zorki-4, or a Kiev 4 series maybe.. Not sure if I want to ruin an earlier camera. Fotokor maybe an option since there are plenty of those too.. I guess we have to think about something that will be fairly easy to apply to a camera - if it involves drilling holes etc it may be a bit too complex for everyone involved in the project to reproduce.. We can always go back to our source that did the original cameras and see if they can make us another one with a different camera but it'll cost probably as much as last time - around 150EUR..
