Hi. I'm new to this forum and I'm not aware of any intro threads or threads for camera issues, so I apologise in advance.
Basically, I was on a coach on Sunday and the driver did an emergency brake for no reason, and my bag with my cameras in it fell off the seat and onto the floor. The uncased Holga came out fine, but my Smena seems to have had the lens hit something and has been broken, even though it was in the leather case. I've had a look on google to try and find out if I can replace the lens without taking the whole shutter unit out with it, because I still have film in the camera, about half of the canister is unused and half is wound onto the reel in the camera. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this? Also does anyone know of anywhere that I can buy parts from so I don't have to hunt down a camera on ebay to replace the broken parts? Thanks for any help. I'm going to attempt to add some photos so you can see what the damage is

| It seems to be a weak spot on these camera, I have exact same damage happen to my Smena Symbol during shipment to me from Ukraine.. I just bought another one, they're cheap, these cameras go for about 15GBP from Ukraine.. |

| I've been looking on ebay and it seems that anything that is in the eastern block has pretty high shipping. I've seen a couple of different Smenas that are here in the uk though so I'm watching them. I've found a Smena Lenin too. I think I fell in love with it a bit. It's so so tempting to buy it |

We are going to Estona next week, should I bring you a bagful of USSR-badges?
Maybe making a Yuri Gagarin-Smena, or underwater = submarine one with superglue...

| An underwater one would be pretty cool. I have an old Soviet Navy winter hat that used to belong to a friend of mine. They would be a good match for each other |

I think I'm just going to have to dream on that one, or get some gold paint :p
I found a broken Symbol on ebay that I won for fifty pence, pus five pounds postage so I took the lens and ring from that one and replaced the broken one today. I loaded the more expensive one with some slide film I bought a few weeks ago, so I have two Symbols running film at the moment, along with my Holga. That should last me the next week and a half I have off work :D |
