Hello everyone! I dont know why I did not join this forum earlier, as I have been collecting Soviet made cameras for about 2 years now.
I have been mainly focusing on Zenit SLR's. I dont know why I like them so much, but I love to use them.
So my collection so far:
Zenit 19 (Made in 1982) This is a pretty standard Zenit 19 with 1/125s Xsync. Mated with a Zenitar-M 50mm f1.7 I got last december. (Before this, a Helios 44M4)
This is the SLR camera I use most. My 19 has never let me down in any situation. (Besides the batteries ending up dead )
Zenit Automat (1990) I got this camera brand new on eBay for $150. It was amazing to open up a brand new camera that is not so new....it has that new camera smell. Very nice aperture priority K mount SLR
Other Zenits that I have: 122, 12 Plain, TTL Olympic, E, and 3m. Other Soviet Cameras: FED-5 with Industar 61LD in Box (1988) FED Micron 2 Agat 18k Smena Symbol (needs new top plate, I dropped it )
Lenses: MIR-10A 28mm f3.5 Helios 44-2, 44M (x2), 44M4, 44K4 MC (All 58mm f2) Zenitar M 50mm 1.7
If anyone wants to see the photos I have taken, they are on my Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dr_robotnik/ Be aware that sometimes I will use my Japanese Minolta X-700 or Canon EOS 20D. But most of the photos on my acc are from Soviet made cameras.
Very nice collection cameras and pictures! It is indeed amazing when you get these new old stock cameras. I had the same experience with a FED-5 that I got, it's quite unusual.
I do have a Smena Symbol somewhere with broken off lens if you're interested, I just have to find it, I keep it around for spare parts. Send me a private message through forum if you want it.
