Thanks for putting this link on the site. I think this new Horizont looks amazing - a very exciting development in panoramic technology from a Zenit joint venture. I've done some quick searches on the web and there seems to be some limited and confusing informtation about when it might actually be avalaible for sale. Have you or anybody else got any information about this?
This camera was announced at Photokina in October 2010. It was supposed to be distributed by Silvestri. I contacted them in March 2011 and was informed that it should be available by June 2011. My enquiries since then have been unanswered, so I am guessing that the project has been abandoned. My own opinion is that stitching together the three images using software is not the way forward. It is too clumsy. I am sure that a digital panoramic camera would be well received, but it would be far better to use a single image as in the film versions of the Horizon.
Thanks, David, for your interesting information and comments about this project. If you or anyone else finally gets confirmation re what has happened to it, or about any new approaches by Zenit to develop a new panoramic digital camera, I think it would be interesting to hear about it.
So, I see from your latest post ("KMZ Website Information") that the Horizon DL-3 digital panoramic project could still be going ahead afterall, as it appeared at Photokina 2012. Thanks for your bit of research.
