Hi Luiz,
I am not sure that any of the Tourist 2x8 movie cameras were manufactured by GOMZ/LOMO. I have two Tourist movie cameras and also the instruction book and all of them are marked MOSKOVSKIY PATEFONNIY ZAVOD. (I tried typing this in in Cyrillic, but the characters do not show correctly on the preview). The instruction book/passport is dated 1961. Perhaps they were made by GOMZ/LOMO after that date. Do you have a Tourist movie camera that shows the GOMZ/LOMO logo?

Actually David you're absolutely right it is manufactured by MPZ between 1957 and 1962, a copy of a similar camera by Meopta. It is definitely not GOMZ/LOMO.. I'll update the entry again.
Thanks, Vlad |

Not to fast Vlad :) Production of Turist movie cameras probably was developed (to be correct - copied from Meopta) and started by GOMZ, with intend to transfer manufacture to Moscow Patefhone Company(MPZ) after initial batch. Kind like story with Pioner and FED. As I understand MPZ was not to enthusiastic to produce movie cameras and drop production as soon as it was able to. In they defense demands in turn-tables was greater then in movie cameras at that time. Turist, as I know had problems to move film with constant speed, what may be entertaining to watch on the screen, but do not add to the quality of the camera. So on the end it make sense to let photo companies make movie gear, and Patephone companies make turn tables. |

There is a confict of information. What is stated on http://www.novacon.com.br/odditycameras/optikotechna.htm was taken from the Meopta old site which no more exists after updating. I believe that the camera was sent in CKD for assembling in Russia. Regards |
