Hi all

I just received this camera...
AS you can see, there is no engraving on top plate.
I have removed top plate to look inside if there was an engraving remaining..
No marks, but different color inside top plate (little gold)
May be you have some comments?

Fred

Hi Fred,
this camera (or very similar to this) I have owned for a half an year and then sold it to the next one .
So far as I know there were no any "no-name" FEDs at all. It was not the camera for export, but only for domestic market.
Inscription on the top plate seemed to be erased and the top plate polished. I have never seen any traces of engraving inside of the plate on FEDs generally.
It could be some spare part or a part prepared for engraving, but that is only my assumption.

Regards, Alexander

These cameras are templates for these fantasy cameras you see for sale. Someone just didn't finish it. I've seen a few like that. They file off the existing engraving, chrome it and strip it of everything then reengrave it.

With that release button and the vulcanite, it should be a late 1b, in fact from the last series (50/54xxx).

I always have two "no name" Feds, both 1d. I think that they were prepared for a Leica conversion, and not converted. Like yours.

As Alexander says, there was no "no name" Fed at all.

Amitiés. Jacques.
