Hi to all.
I have a strange Kiev 5 in red snake skin. Probably aftermarket modification in early years for unknown reason (even lens cap has the same leather cover and the lens case has a strip of same kind). Leatherette isn't very well applied. The camera was already discussed here: http://ussrphoto.com/Forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2742&SearchTerms=kiev,5.
However, the serial number of my Kiev is from year 1971, the lens is Helios 94, yet camera has a parallax correction - frame lines in the viewfinder move when focusing the lens.
On the sovietcams website it's not clear to me when the parallax correction functionality was removed. I have another Kiev 5 from 1970 that doesn't have it. Do you maybe know how special Kiev 5 with parallax correction is?
THanks!

I can't say the snake skin adds to the aestghetics of the camera, lol.
I never knew that any Russian rangefinder had parallax correction. |

mine from 1971 does not have a parallax correction, at least I don't see that the frame in the viewfinder moves. Or can it be somehow broken?

I fear it is so; I'm not an expert, but I've always read that one of the features was parallax correction ...

I believe only the prototypes had parallax correction,

If only prototypes had parallax correction then my camera is built from many different parts: Kiev engraving is of a later type, speed selector is of a later type, flash sync is on the right side... Besides leatherette it doesn't seem to me that my camera would be different than PA1055. However, parallax correction puzzles me... |

All Kiev-5 cameras have parallax correction in viewfinder. If it doesn't work it is broken. Some early cameras had additional correction for external viewfinders (by moving an accessory shoe). |
